Uganda is located in the east of Africa. It has the Equator running right through it. Uganda experiences the Savannah climate. This means it has very high temperatures and at times rain in the expected summer season. This climate however is not so uniform across the country as the northern region experiences long periods of no rain. The southern region where the capital city Kampala is located experiences rainy conditions more often than the northern region.

*NOTE: I am using Mwanza Tanzania in my graphs to compare temperature and Precipitation, but it is not located in Uganda but in the neighboring country Tanzania.

PRECThe annual range of precipitation the Kampala, Uganda has is 129.3 ppm, which is so large compared to the Denver, CO which happens to be 46 ppm.  This means that Kampala Uganda receives over double the rain received by Denver, CO. Tanzania, Mwanza on the other hand seems to be experiencing periods of almost no rain and a lot of rain.  The range of Precipitation in Mwanza, Tanzania is 172 ppm, compared to Kampala, Uganda which has 129.3 ppm it shows that the latter has wider range of precipitation.

The annual range of temperature in Kampala, Uganda is 2.3 degrees and that in Mwanza, Tanzania is 1 degree. This means that both cities have a very small range between them. For a city like Mwanza Tanzania, it has a constant temperature of 23 degrees so it is constantly hot in this city, compared to its precipitation, June and July are its wettest months and indeed the temperature drops to 22 degrees during this time. Denver CO, is a whole different story compared to these two cities as its range is 22 degrees. There seems to be a huge contrast with the temperature variations, as when Denver, CO gets to its highest temperature of 23 degrees, this when both cities Kampala, Uganda and Mwanza Tanzania are at their coldest temperatures. Denver, CO seems to have the largest range in temperature and this can be seen in the graph below.

  1. Togo and Uganda have some similarities on the climate in general. The two countries have a rainy season in commun which is from mid-September to late October for Togo’s two cities and from August to November in Kampala, Uganda . The temperature in my country Togo is higher than the temperature of Uganda. The annual range of temperature in your cities both Kampala and Mwanza is lower than the annual range of temperature in my two cities Lome and Tabligbo. ( 2,3 & 1 compared to 3,3 & 3,6). I can tell it gets hotter in Togo than in Uganda.
